Secaucus High School Consumer Bowl Champions Honored at Secaucus Board of Education Showcase of Success

Members of the Hudson County Champion Consumer Bowl and their advisor, Ms. Alexis Chisari, were honored at the Board of Education’s Showcase of Success on April 12th. This past January Secaucus High School won the Hudson County competition for the fifth consecutive year. This past week they competed in the Northern Region Competition, taking second place in the competition. The Secaucus High School Consumer Bowl competition team consists of team captain Kaitlyn O’Connell, Zishan Patel, David Perez, Nader Alkhabbaz, and Kendryck Ceballos. Secaucus Board of Education Honors Middle School Student Joey Liang

At the Secaucus Board of Education Showcase of Success on March 23rd. the Board recognized Middle School student is Chaoyi (Joey) Liang. Joey, an eighth grade student, who placed in the top 5% nationally in the Mathematics Challenge. Board of Education Honors Clarendon School Geography Bee Winners

At the Board of Education Meeting this past week, the Board honored the Clarendon School Geography Bee Winner and runners up. At the Showcase of Success honoring these students, Huber Street School Principal Steve Viggiani commended each of the students for their outstanding performance, and afterward each pupil was presented with a Certificate of Commendation on behalf of the Board of Education by Board President Jack McStowe.

Those students honored were National Geographic Bee First Place Winner Jake Salvatore, Second Place Winner Zachary Veloz, and Third Place Winner Chloe Lin.

Board of Education Honors Huber Street School Geography Bee Winners

At the Board of Education Meeting this past week, the Board honored Huber Street School Geography Bee Winners. At the Showcase of Success honoring these students, Huber Street School Principal Linda Wilhelm commended each of the students for their outstanding performance, and afterward each pupil was presented with a Certificate of Commendation on behalf of the Board of Education by Board President Jack McStowe.

Those students honored were National Geographic Bee First Place Winner Evan Papadopoulos, Second Place Winner Rakshan Reddy, and Third Place Winners Anika Antala and Anshi Agashiwala.

Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds Mario Cofini Honored at Board of Education Meeting

Mario Cofini, Secaucus School District Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, was honored by the Board of Education at the Board’s Showcase of Success on March 23rd.

Mr. Cofini was honored for his leadership skills and abilities during a recent power surge at Clarendon School that compromised the motors of the hot water circulating pumps threatened to shut down the school. Due to his fast actions, knowledge, and connections; Mario was able to replace the faulty parts overnight, thus assuring the school would not need to be closed down. Mr. Cofini was also recognized for his leadership efforts during the two major snowstorms this winter.

Secaucus Board of Education Honors High School Teacher Thiago Leite on his Selection as New Jersey Parent Teacher Association's Outstanding Teacher of the Year

At the Board of Education meeting of March 23rd, the Secaucus Board of Education honored High School English teacher Thiago Leite on his impressive accomplishment of earning recognition as the New Jersey Parent Teacher Association’s Teacher of the Year.

Earlier this month the New Jersey Parent Teacher Association (NJPTA) concluded their annual convention with a celebratory dinner honoring exemplary educators thorough the state. At this dinner Mr. Leite was presented with the NJPTA’s Outstanding Teacher of the Award. Mr. Leite’s name had been previously placed into nomination by the members of the local Secaucus High School PTA on account of his dedication to the school district in and outside of the classroom.

Secaucus High School Biology Teacher Peter Newman Selected to Train Teachers in the Gambia Through the New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning

Secaucus High School Biology Teacher Peter Newman has been selected by Dr. Robert Goodman of the New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning to travel to the Gambia for the purpose of training Biology Teachers. Mr. Newman will spend five hours a day training the Gambia's Biology Teachers with the knowledge, tools, and resources to teach their own students; empowering them to succeed in STEM; and prepare their students for careers in the sciences.

All Parents and Guardians of Elementary School Students are Invited to Join Us on March 30th for "A Dialogue with the Secaucus Middle and High School Principals and a Tour of the Middle and High School Facilities"

All parents and guardians of elementary school students are cordially invited to join us for "A Dialogue with the Secaucus Middle and High School Principals and a Tour of the Middle and High School Facilities. This event will take the place of the "Coffee With the Elementary Supervisor" and is scheduled for Thursday, 30 March in the Performing Arts Center.
