Market Day

 Our PTA is participating in a food co-op called Market Day school, restaurant quality food products from companies such as Tropicana, Tyson, Smuckers, Campbell's, Kraft, and Elio's will be available for purchase. Market day products are comparably priced and the PTA will earn at least 10% of the wholesale value of the food we buy.

Each month an order form will be distributed through the school and you can simply return the form to the school with your order, or place your order on-line at www.marketday.com. The food will be available for pick up at a designated night here in the school gym. No payment is made until the food is picked up. We did it!  Our November Market Day Pie Sale was a tremendous success.  We exceeded our initial goal of 250 pies and sold 588.  The profit from the pie sale alone raised $2205 for  our school.  Thank you to all the families who purchased pies.

Book Fair Update

Once again, the book fair was a big success.  The children enjoyed a great selection of books.  Special thanks to Mrs. Dewland, Kelli D'Addetta and all of the volunteers for a job well done. 

Red Ribbon Week

Clarendon School joined with over 100,000 schools across the country to celebrate the annual Red Ribbon Week from October 22 - 29.  Red Ribbon week was created to promote a drug free America and wearing a red ribbon symbolizes the importance of staying drug free as a positive choice for children and adults.  The PTA provided an activity book to each student to promote the positive aspects of living a drug free life.

  We hope that you will continue to support your child's PTA and join us in having another 100% membership for the coming school year.  We are planning some very exciting events for the 2008/10 school year. Please take the time to come to our meetings which are held throughout the year.  The PTA is working very hard for the students of Clarendon School and we need your continued support.

PTA Founder's Day Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended our recent Founder's Day meeting.  It was a a very special evening honoring past and present leaders who have contributed to the success of the PTA.  Congratulations to our Principal, Deidre Ertle, who was presented the highest honor a PTA can bestow, Lifetime Membership in the NJPTA.  Life membership in the NJPTA is presented in recognition of outstanding and faithful service performed in the interest of children and youth.  Thank you to the Clarendon Chorus, and teacher, Mrs. Redvanly and the Rock Bank, and teacher, Mr. Sonnett for providing the evening's entertainment.

Holiday Bazaar and Tricky Tray

Thank you to everyone who donated items and who volunteered at the Holiday Bazaar and Tricky Tray.  These events were amazingly successful because of your help and involvement.

Candlelight Bowling

The PTA's annual candlelight bowling will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 7 PM at the Van Houten Lanes in Clifton.  Please join us for this fun adult evening.

After each general PTA meeting an award is given to the homeroom in Pre-K/Kindergarten, Primary and Intermediate which has the highest percentage of parental attendance at that meeting.  The students in the winning class each receive a special treat and if the teacher is preset he or she will receive $25  to use for classroom materials.  Please remember to sign for all your children's classes as you enter the gym for each meeting. 

                                        Note Card Fundraiser

This year the PTA will be selling sets of note cards with each student's personal artwork on the cover.  The cards are great to have on hand for birthdays or thank you notes or a set can be purchased for family members as holiday gifts.  Additional information and prices will be sent home in the next weeks.

                                         Membership Directory

We are in the process of compiling this year's membership directory, but it is not too late if you wish to be included.  Please send in your form by September 29, if you wish to be included and receive a copy of the directory.  If you have any questions or concerns about the directory, please see Kelli D'Adetto.

                                                Market Day

The PTA will again participate in the monthly Market Day food sale program..  If you haven't tried Market Day, please take a moment to look at the flyer when it is sent home with your child each month. You have until October 6th. to place an order on-line, which can be picked up in the Clarendon gym from 6:30 -7:30 PM. If you have any questions, please contact Committee Chair Jenny Bogdan.

The PTA has changed its general meeting attendance award incentive program.  Please continue to sign in for all your children's homeroom classes at each meeting, however, instead of each student in the winning class receiving a small gift, the winning class will now receive $25.00 for the teacher to spend on one or more larger items that the class needs.  There will be three winners at each meeting one for Pre-K/Kindergarten, one for Primary and one for Intermediate.  Please remember to join the PTA if you haven't already, as only members are counted when we tally the award winners.

We have fun meetings planned for this year, so please check your child's back pack for further information about each one.

These events require a great deal of work both prior to and during the event.  Please consider coming to one of the sales to help the students make their purchases.  If you are unavailable during the day, there are jobs you can do in the evenings. such as making telephone calls or shopping.  a flyer will be sent home this week, listing the events at which the PTA could use your help, please consider volunteering at least one of these events.
