History of K-Kids
K-Kids, a Kiwanis club sponsored program, has seen steady growth since its inception in 1990. Begun in Florida, where 1998-99 Kiwanis Governor Lamar Fisher developed the program and provided continuing support, K-Kids soon spread to other Kiwanis districts. As a result of its growth, K-Kids was adopted as a sponsored program on October 1, 1998. The first club chartered by International was the K-Kids Club of Brooksville Elementary School in Florida.
Today, in addition to the US, there are clubs in Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Italy, Jamaica, Malaysia, Martinique, Nigeria, the Philippines, and Trinidad and Tobago. There are over 600 K-Kids clubs across the world!
K-Kids Project - Holiday Packages to Soldiers in Iraq
K-Kids Club of Huber St. School will be sending holiday packages to our solders in Iraq. This year we will be sending to soldiers whose unit is from New Jersey. We will be sending each soldier two packages, one with food items and one with non-food items. Kiwanis Club of Secaucus will be paying for the postage.
Below is a suggested list of items that these soldiers have requested. We are asking the family of Huber St. School to make donations. Deadline for donations will be October 31st so that we can box the items and the soldiers will receive them for the holidays.
There will be a donation table outside the main office starting Monday, September 22nd.
Thank you in advance for your generous donations.
