The
SGO is a program that involves 4th, 5th and 6th graders. Students in the 4th,
5th and 6th grades are elected by their peers from within their homerooms.
These students are the class representatives and the liasons between the SGO
meetings and their classmates. In addition, an election is held for 6th grade
students wishing to run for the executive board. These students are responsible
for leading the Flag Salute in the morning and participation in various special
events.
As part of the SGO, students are involved in planning and organizing various
school functions including socials and fundraisers. Each year students meet
with the advisors and share their ideas and plans for the school year. these
ideas are then presented to the principal for approval and the SGO "heads ups"
the activity. In the past, the SGO has been responsible for raising money for
various charitable organizations such as March of Dimes and Pennies for
Patients. They have also been involved in collecting bears for sick children,
Toys for Tots and food for the local food pantry.
