Good Afternoon Secaucus Families,

I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to the Mothers Day weekend. Happy Mothers Day to all of our district moms and those who assume that role! Our district COVID-19 cases for this week have gone up slightly, which was expected in the weeks following our Spring Break.

The number of positive cases in our district is as follows:

  • High School:  5 students, 1 staff member
  • Middle School: 1 student
  • Clarendon: 3 staff members, 2 students
  • Huber St: 3 students

These 15 cases bring our district's total to 415 positive COVID-19 cases for the school year. Although it is an increase, those 15 cases only represent 0.6% of the entire district (2702 staff and students total). Thankfully, most of the cases reported were either asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. As we have done in the past, we will continue to notify anyone who has been “exposed” to these positive cases and quarantine them according to our contact tracing plan. We will also continue to ensure that our buildings are cleaned and disinfected properly, and we encourage all of our students to practice proper handwashing to minimize the spread of all contagious diseases.

Please join the Board of Education on Wednesday, May 11th at 7 PM at the PAC for a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the formation of the Community Education Relations Committee or CERC.  The CERC is a Board of Education Committee created with the goal of improving parent and community engagement.  All parents are welcome to attend and provide input on how we can structure this committee to ensure that all stakeholders have a voice in our education system.

The Parent Communication Form is still open for questions and can be accessed here: https://forms.gle/wFy9mQYpd1HdzRuk7. There is also an easy-to-use button on the www.sboe.org home page that you can click that will lead you straight to the form. As always, we look forward to your questions! Our next FAQ will be published on May 13, 2022.

Be well,

Dr. Daniela Riser

Acting Superintendent
