Good Afternoon Secaucus Families,

I hope everyone had a great start to the school year this week! We, as a district, are extremely happy to see all of the students’ smiling faces entering our school buildings again. I was fortunate enough to visit all of the schools at their starting times to experience the awesome first-day events that were taking place this Wednesday.

I will continue to send out bi-weekly district updates this school year to keep our families fully informed of any updated news or important information that needs to be shared. I am committed to being fully transparent as your Acting Superintendent, as is our district administration and Board of Education going forward. We will also continue to offer our “FAQs” when we populate additional questions on our “Parent Communication Form”, which is still open and taking questions. There is a quick link on the right side of our website at www.sboe.org.

We have received a few inquiries on our “Parent Communication Form” this summer that related to technology concerns and parent portal issues. The best way to resolve these issues is to contact your school's main office in order to get your issues immediately resolved. However, we will address your concerns through this form, be it not as quickly as going directly to the source.

Earlier this week, a letter regarding re-registration and the times that we will be accepting packets/documents at each back to school night was sent to all families in the district. An additional mailing with the re-registration packet and additional information will be provided to you early next week. Please note that these re-registration sessions will be open to all parents in any school, regardless of the back-to-school night you are attending. For example, if I wanted to re-register my high school son at the Clarendon re-registration night, I would be permitted to do so. Please make every effort to attend one of these sessions so that we can complete a majority of this process before the end of the month. Those students that are not re-registered by the beginning of October will be subject to the disenrollment process.

I also wanted to make parents aware of Board Policy #7490 - Animals on School Property. No pets are permitted on school grounds without the explicit permission of the principal or other district administrator. We are fortunate enough to have three therapy dogs that are part of a board approved program in our schools. These are the only animals that are permitted to be on our school grounds during any time. Please refrain from bringing your animals to any school events or even walking your dogs on school grounds. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Lastly, thank you for all of your ongoing support as we navigate through another school year. Hopefully, we are now returning to a sense of normalcy and our focus can turn back toward excellent teaching and learning.

Best Regards,

Dr. Daniela Riser

Acting Superintendent of Schools
