Good Afternoon Secaucus Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already into December and approaching the end of the calendar year! It is also apparent that the holiday season is upon us, since it seems as though our students have returned from Thanksgiving break anticipating exhilarating times ahead, both in the engaging in-class activities they are doing and in preparing for other exciting upcoming events in their own lives. Be it as it may, we will still continue to provide our students with a quality education while meeting the New Jersey Student Learning standards in each subject area. 

The latest FAQ based on the “Parent Communication Form” questions that have been asked over the past two weeks is located just below this letter. The Parent Communication Form is still open for questions and can be accessed here: https://forms.gle/wFy9mQYpd1HdzRuk7. There is also an easy-to-use button on the www.sboe.org home page that you can click that will lead you straight to the form. Please encourage everyone to use this form as a means of communication with district administration. We welcome all questions and comments!

Q: Will the construction of the fence at Clarendon Elementary be completed at some point? And why was construction of it stopped?

A: Construction on the security fence at Clarendon has halted in order to review site plans and surveys with the town, Office of Emergency Management, and architects in order to ensure emergency personnel can access our building. We are hoping to continue the installation at the beginning of the new year. 

Q: Why do we always find out from our children about a long teacher absence?

A: We do our best to inform parents about any issues in the classroom. When a teacher is absent for an extended period of time, we make sure to send notice to parents that a different person will be instructing their child/children. If faculty absences are more short term, it is not procedural for administrators to alert the parents. As always, if there is any specific issue you would like to speak about regarding a teacher/faculty member, feel free to contact your child’s school and speak to a building administrator.
